Full-body digital radiographic imaging of the injured child

T S Douglas, R D Pitcher, A B van As

Abstract

We present an overview of the use of a low-dose full-body digital X-ray imaging system in paediatric trauma. Digital imaging allows rapid availability of captured images, enhancing efficiency. Imaging at low radiation dose is particularly beneficial in children, who are more susceptible to the risks of ionising radiation. Full-body imaging facilitates the early detection of injuries in the absence of associated clinical signs.
